Crypto tax, from data that’s actually right.

The hardest part of crypto taxes isn’t the taxes - it’s the data.

Bring your exchanges, wallets and chains into one ledger. Import, search and organise your transactions free. When you need your tax report, buy the year you need to unlock your tax figures, forms and supporting calculations.

No credit card to start. Transaction tools are free; tax reports are paid. Stuck? A person replies within one business day, filing season included.

What we fixFive reasons numbers come out wrong

Five reasons numbers come out wrong, and what we do about each.

If the data is wrong, the tax is wrong. Five failures produce almost every incorrect crypto return, none of them about tax law. Moonscape was built to catch each one.

01
Activity scattered across venues

CEXs, DEXs, wallets, bridges and chains, none of which agree with each other.

Every source pulled into one ledger, duplicates removed, and the wallet you forgot to add flagged.

02
Missing transfers become phantom gains

Move your own coins between your own wallets and a naive tool bills you for a disposal.

Transfers between your own wallets are matched and never billed as sales.

03
Wrong or missing historical prices

A disposal priced at the wrong minute is a gain figure nobody can defend.

Every asset priced at the minute it moved, exchange-reported where a fiat leg exists.

04
Wrapped tokens and stablecoins break cost basis

Wrap, bridge or LP once and the chain of basis silently snaps. Some tools book USDC at zero.

Basis follows the asset through wraps, bridges and LP positions. USDC costs what you paid for it.

05
Holdings that don’t match your wallet

The tool says you hold 270 LTC. Your wallet says 12. Every figure downstream is wrong, and nothing tells you which.

A running balance per asset. Any sale that dips below zero is flagged as a missing source in the exceptions report, not silently given a zero cost.

01

Unified activity

Every CEX, wallet, chain and DEX pulled into one ledger. Transfers linked, duplicates removed, gaps flagged rather than guessed.

02

Correct pricing

Historical price for every asset at the exact moment it moved - wraps, LP tokens, stables and cross-chain variants included.

Exchange-reported where a fiat leg exists
03

Accurate classification

Swaps, sells, wraps, bridges, LP adds and removes, rewards, transfers - each mapped to the tax event it actually is.

Self-transfers never billed as disposals
04

Always current

Cost basis, P&L and the tax figure recalculate as you trade. If a late transaction changes the number, we reissue the pack free.

No end-of-year scramble

New for tax year 2025Filing deadline · 15 April 2026

Form 1099-DA changes how every US investor files.

From January 2025 every US broker - Coinbase, Kraken, Robinhood, Gemini - reports your crypto sales to the IRS. The IRS will see every disposition. Your return has to match.

01
Brokers now report your sales

Every disposition, filed on your behalf, whether or not you tracked it.

02
Crypto gets its own Form 8949

The only asset class with a dedicated version, with digital-asset checkboxes.

03
Cost basis is still on you

Brokers need not report basis until 2026. Untracked basis is assumed to be zero - a 100% gain on every sale.

04
Mismatches are an automatic flag

If your 1040 disagrees with the broker’s 1099-DA, that difference is what gets looked at.

The bottom line

Crypto taxes aren’t stressful when the data is correct. Moonscape fixes the root cause - broken, inconsistent, cross-chain data - rather than putting a nicer interface on top of it.

How do I get started?

Connect an exchange with a read-only API key, paste a wallet address, or upload a CSV. Importing, searching, organising and categorising transactions is free. One payment per tax year unlocks your tax report, including tax figures, matched lots and forms.

What exchanges do you support?

300+ exchanges by API or CSV, 15+ blockchains read straight from an address, and 50+ DeFi protocols including LPs, bridges and staking.

How much does it cost?

5 self-serve plans from $39 to $199, priced on how many real transactions that tax year holds - spam and dust airdrops never count. One payment per tax year, not a subscription. Concierge is a one-off from $499, quoted after a free diagnostic scan. Importing and reconciling are always free.

How are crypto taxes calculated?

Every disposal is matched to the lots it consumed using your jurisdiction's method - FIFO, LIFO, HIFO or share pooling - and the gain is proceeds less basis, net of fees.

What forms do I need?

US filers need Form 8949 and Schedule D; UK filers need SA108 with a computation sheet. Both are produced pre-filled, alongside income reports for mining, staking and airdrops.

Do I need to report if I didn't sell?

Moving your own coins between your own wallets isn't a disposal and we never treat it as one. Staking rewards and airdrops are income when they land, so they are reportable even without a sale.

How does transaction auditing work?

Every figure resolves to a source record. An exceptions report lists what needed a judgement call, what we resolved automatically and what's left for you - nothing is resolved silently.

Can I export my data?

Yes - PDF forms, CSV appendix and a single-zip CPA handover. Your plan for that tax year covers the figure, the matched lots and every export.

Switching from Koinly or CoinTracker?

Connect the same exchanges and wallets, or upload the CSVs you already exported. Import and reconciliation are free, so you know your count and your gaps before paying. If their number was wrong, our exceptions report shows where - and this guide covers the six usual causes.

Is my data secure?

API keys are read-only and encrypted. We can see your history and can never trade, withdraw or transfer. You can disconnect any source at any time.
